Description

As a non-profit organization that is responsive to both industry and community needs, the Saskatoon Trade and Skills Centre (STSC) delivers short-term trades and skills training, leading to entry-level jobs where workers are in high demand.

We are seeking qualified Construction Trades Instructors for casual three week contracts to deliver the practical hands-on portion of our trades courses such as Basic Welding and Introduction to Construction programs.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Delivering theory and practical course curriculum in a shop/lab environment, which includes ensuring training participant awareness of course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniques;
Providing practical hands-on individualized instruction into the learning process;
Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates participants diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles;
Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage participants in the learning process;
Evaluating participant progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the participants practical work within the assigned course;
Ensuring full compliance with health and safety requirements;
Working effectively with participants, the STSC program team, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:

Journeyperson or Red Seal certification in relative trade required;
Experience in teaching on-campus (high school/post-secondary level) or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry preferred;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Demonstrated ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of training participants;
Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and working within a team environment.
