Description

The City is currently recruiting a Director of Light and Power for this utility. This could be your opportunity to join City Administration as a Senior Manager in a utility that contributes to serving citizens, local business, industry and the province in general. The Director of Light and Power leads and manages a team consisting of administration, superintendents, powerline technicians and others. The current team ranges between ten (10) and thirteen (13) members.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Director of Light and Power is responsible to direct, control and administer the operation of the Citys Electric Utility. They must meet the Citys corporate Objectives by:
    Supporting the senior management team providing, accurate information to Council.
    Aiding the development and implementation of initiatives, policies, and procedures.
    Enabling the City to meet its corporate financial goals and objectives.
    Providing plans, organizing, and managing all aspects of the Utility.
    Budgeting, rate-setting, staff selection and training, and dealing with the public.

Required Qualifications
    Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Engineering.
    Knowledge of utility regulation, finance, and rate setting. distribution utility construction, maintenance operating principles. substation operation, streetlight systems, traffic control systems and electric utility revenue metering.

The person should have a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in distribution electric utility operations, including five (5) years in a managerial role with demonstrated skills as follows:
    Strategic planning
    Human Resources and Labour Relations
    Project management
    Decision making
    Fiscal management
    Organizational management
    Problem solving, and
    Public and media relations
