Description

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and culturally responsive Elementary School Teacher to join our educational team within Muskeg Lake Cree Nation. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for students from Kindergarten to Grade 7, while integrating Indigenous knowledge, culture, and values into daily teaching practices.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Foster a safe, welcoming, and respectful classroom environment that promotes student well-being, belonging, and academic success;
    Use culturally appropriate teaching methods and materials to support diverse learning styles and abilities;
    Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community members, and other educators to enhance cultural education and land-based learning opportunities;
    Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, maintaining open and ongoing communication with parents, caregivers, and school leadership;
    Participate in school-wide activities, cultural events, ceremonies, and professional development sessions;
    Promote holistic development, including social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth;
    Utilize effective classroom management strategies to maintain a productive and respectful learning environment;
    Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to ensure academic success;
    Incorporate elements of forest school and/or Land-Based learning into the curriculum, where applicable;
    Develop and implement lesson plans that meet provincial curriculum guidelines while incorporating Indigenous perspectives and cultural content.
