Description

We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and culturally grounded Cree Language Teacher to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Cree language, culture, and traditions to elementary school students, while promoting pride in Cree identity and supporting language revitalization efforts within the school and community.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Teach Cree language (oral and written) to students in Kindergarten to Grade 7, following a culturally appropriate, age-appropriate curriculum;
    Integrate Cree culture, history, stories, songs, land-based activities, and traditional knowledge into language lessons;
    Create a positive, safe, and respectful learning environment that encourages students to actively participate in language learning;
    Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members to enhance language and cultural programming;
    Develop and adapt lesson plans, teaching materials, and classroom activities to meet student learning needs;
    Promote the use of Cree language in daily school routines, ceremonies, and events;
    Participate in school-wide activities, cultural events, and land-based learning experiences;
    Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation;
    Support language revitalization initiatives in partnership with the school and community leadership.
