Description

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and culturally responsive Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs in a First Nation community school. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering individualized education programs (IEPs) while working collaboratively with families, school staff, Elders, and community members to foster a safe, inclusive, and culturally grounded learning environment.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the strengths and needs of each student;
    Provide direct instruction, academic support, and accommodations to students with exceptionalities, including learning disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioral or emotional challenges;
    Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet the individual learning styles and cultural backgrounds of students;
    Collaborate with classroom teachers, educational assistants, and support staff to ensure inclusive practices and consistent student support;
    Maintain open communication with parents, caregivers, Elders, and community members regarding student progress and needs;
    Facilitate culturally relevant and trauma-informed teaching practices that respect the traditions, values, and histories of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation and other First Nation communities;
    Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and professional development opportunities;
    Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documentation in accordance with school policies and provincial guidelines.
