The Academic Coach is responsible for supporting teachers in delivering high-quality, culturally responsive instruction that meets both provincial curriculum outcomes and the educational priorities of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation. This position involves mentoring educators, developing resources, promoting best practices, and helping integrate Indigenous knowledge and ways of learning into classroom teaching. The Academic Coach works collaboratively with school staff, leadership, Elders, and community members to enhance student success and well-being.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mentor and coach teachers in instructional strategies, lesson planning, assessment practices, and classroom management.
Support the integration of Indigenous perspectives, cultural content, and land-based learning opportunities into classroom instruction.
Collaborate with teachers to analyze student achievement data and develop targeted strategies to improve academic outcomes.
Facilitate professional learning sessions, workshops, and one-on-one coaching for teaching staff.
Model effective, culturally relevant teaching practices in classrooms as needed.
Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide academic programs and interventions.
Work with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members to develop culturally appropriate teaching resources and activities.
Support teachers in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Collaborate with school leadership to align academic goals with community education priorities and student wellness initiatives.
