Description

The Design Branch within the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways is seeking an energetic, strategic, and highly motivated leader to join our team as Director, Land Management Services (Land) in the Regina or Saskatoon office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of the Ministrys land acquisition and disposal programs, land policy and standards development, provincial land records management and First Nations/municipal road advisory services.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will lead a diverse group of approximately 14 professionals located in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.

The successful candidate will possess:

- Demonstrated expertise in planning, provincial government processes and practices related to land management as well as government decision making, strategic planning, and program development;
- Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills;
- Working knowledge of budgeting and forecasting, project management, asset management, maintenance and preservation, operations, construction, contract law, and human resources; and
- General knowledge of the Highways and Transportation Act, The Highway Traffic Act, The Cities Act, The Municipalities Act, The Expropriation Procedure Act, and The Planning and Development Act, Indian Act, and the First Nations Land Management Act.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position are acquired through a university degree in Commerce, Law, or Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience. Professional designations from the International Right of Way Association or the Appraisal Institute of Canada are considered an asset.

This position is located in Regina or Saskatoon. Other locations may be considered.
