Description

Working closely with the HOMEBASE team & reporting directly to the Director of Homebase, Peer Support is a front-line staff who relates to & engages with participants of the organization from a peer perspective & provides emotional & social support, co-facilitates courses, links individuals with HOMEBASE & community resources.

Responsibilities:
First point of entry & intake for youth at HOMEBASE
Provide one-to-one & group support
Liaise with youth participants & service providers in the hub to support the participants access to services & programs.
Provide service navigation & ensure linkages are made with HOMEBASE partners & community resources
Provide community outreach which may include facilitating presentations to community partners & youth participant recruitment
Support community engagement activities & implement programming (life skills, employment, other)
Office administration includes answering phones, booking appointments, basic data entry & light housekeeping.

Qualifications
Grade 12 education, post-secondary an asset
Personal lived experience with mental health &/or addictions challenges & recovery; willingness to share own experiences
Understanding of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth & community services available
Knowledge of local mental health & addictions system & community services
Reliable & have a strong willingness to improve the lives of youth aged 12-25
Availability evenings & weekends
Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search
Access to a vehicle
