SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of Kahkewistahaw First Nation and the supervision of the Lands & Regulatory Manager the Lands & Resource Maintenance Technician will engage in various duties. The primary role of the Lands & Resource Maintenance Technicians is to provide mid-level support to the Lands Regulatory Manager, Sr. Lands Office and overall department. This position ensures the effectiveness and efficiency of the Lands Regulatory department and issues relating to lands management of Kahkewistahaw First Nation, other duties relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
1. Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum two (2) years work experience in Land & Resources or related fields.
3. Experience in event coordination and project management.
4. Adaptability to situations and changing work environment.
5. Knowledge of community and Aboriginal land issues.
6. Contract negotiation and development experience.
7. Must be able to operate standard pick-up trucks, perform safety checks, operate side by side and operate mechanical equipment safely (i.e., post pounder, winch, garden tractor/lawn mowers, etc.)
8. Read and interpret maps or willing to obtain training.
9. Must have or be willing to take First Aid Training, WHIMIS, Ground Disturbance, including Fire Awareness.
10. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with office staff, managers, external land users and band membership.
11. Have the ability to maintain the management of confidential information and must be prepared to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
