The Coordinator will provide leadership in the development of procedures for elementary counselling and the capacity building of elementary counsellors. This includes leading behaviour support services and programs, supervising staff and overseeing the operations of the SCAS branch. This is a full-time position with duties to commence on August 25, 2025.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Supervise elementary counsellors and coordinate the delivery of counselling services in elementary schools.
- Oversee record keeping for elementary counselling services.
- Provide leadership in Safe, Caring and Accepting Schools initiatives such as VTRA, Traumatic Event Response, safeTALK, ASIST, Hub and school mental health services.
Liaise with professionals and community agencies (e.g., SPS, STC, Mobile Crisis, Social Services, Calder Centre, etc.).
Develop long-range plans and report progress to the Superintendent of Education.
- Manage the SCAS annual budget and monitor expenditures.
Lead planning and delivery of professional development for staff and partners.
- Visit schools to support the development of programs and services.
Facilitate meetings to address complex issues and recommend program improvements.
- Review and recommend programs and resources for SCAS.
- Maintain an inventory of SCAS resources.
- Engage in professional development related to the role.
- Performs such other duties as required to meet organizational goals and timelines.
- The successful candidate will have:
- A graduate degree in psychology, social work, educational psychology, special education, administration or a related field. (Candidates currently enrolled or intending to enroll in a graduate program may be considered.)
- Experience with counselling or supervision of counselling staff.
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities.
- Experience supporting student behaviour and well-being.
