The Family Support Supervisor will ensure the children and families are receiving Pre/Post wellness support planning and cultural teachings following proper protocol. To provide consistency and attention supporting the YTL Wellness planning completed with the family unit to foster the holistic development of all parents, children/youth in the highest possible regard. The Family Support Supervisor will help to maintain the spiritual integrity of the program by encouraging and supporting staff, families, and children to work, live and play in a respectful environment.
Working in collaboration with the First Nation Services, other programs and services and YTL-YTCCFS Inc., this individual must possess the ability to assess and identify at risk families and the ability to refer and engage the appropriate resources.
Ability to use Professional Judgement and Critical thinking.
Ability to work with and support the Child and Family Services Authorities.
Engage in Cultural Opportunities and planning for parents, children and family.
Knowledge of the Nakoda, Dakota, Nehiyew and Anishinabek Culture and the political and social objectives of the YTL-YTCCFS Inc. member First Nations
Knowledge and understanding of the impacts of colonialism on First Nation people, Indian Residential Schools, Intergenerational trauma and how these factors impact individuals and families; and the influence of the child welfare system in First Nations communities.
Knowledge and understanding of the differences between the YTL Service Delivery Model Stream 1, Stream 2 and Stream 3 of services and supports.
Understands the complexity and multi-dimensional nature of many social problems affecting children and families (child abuse, maltreatment/abuse, and neglect, etc.)
Possess a valid drivers license and possess a reliable vehicle.
Must be available for evening, after hours and weekends as scheduled.
Able to utilize a database and complete reporting.
