Description

Reporting to the Principal and/or Head of Maintenance, the Janitor/Custodian is responsible for daily cleaning duties, minor maintenance tasks, and responding to school needs during regular operations and special events.
Nakoda Oyade Education Centre is seeking a dedicated and reliable Janitor/Custodian to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of the school building and grounds. This important role supports a healthy learning environment for students and staff by ensuring that all areas of the school are clean, sanitized, and well-maintained.Ensure all classrooms, hallways, washrooms, offices, and common areas are cleaned and sanitized daily. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wash floors. Empty garbage and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly. Refill supplies such as soap, sanitizer, paper towels, and toilet paper. Clean windows, walls, whiteboards, and other surfaces as needed.
Perform minor maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, tightening loose fixtures, and reporting larger repair needs to the Head of Maintenance or Principal. Ensure school grounds, entryways, and sidewalks are kept clean, safe, and free of debris, snow, or ice.
Secure the school building by locking doors and setting alarms when required.
Assist with furniture setup for events, meetings, or classroom needs.
Comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards and follow all safety procedures.
Other duties as assigned by Administration.
Ability to comply with NOEC, CTK policies, federal and provincial legislation
