Description

The File Hills QuAppelle Tribal Council (FHQTC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as Director of Justice. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, management, and delivery of Justice Department programs and services to our eleven member First Nations.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of justice services across the member nations.
Manage and support Justice Department programs including Community/Restorative Justice, Court Workers, Probation Services, Reintegration Services, and related initiatives.
Supervise program staff and ensure effective program delivery
Coordinate legal and justice-related activities and provide expert advisory support to First Nations communities, leadership, and justice committees.
Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal departments, First Nations leadership, justice system stakeholders, and external agencies.
Interpret and apply applicable legislation, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with Indigenous legal traditions and community needs.
Qualifications:
A degree in Human Justice, Law, Criminology, Indigenous Studies, or a related field is required; a combination of education and equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum of five (5) years of senior management experience, preferably in Indigenous or justice-related organizations.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and provincial justice systems, Indigenous legal systems, restorative justice principles, and relevant legislation and policies.
Strong budgeting, planning, and reporting skills
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and analytical skills.
Deep understanding and respect for First Nations cultures, values, and traditions, with a commitment to community empowerment and self-determination.
