The Principal is the face of the school and will lead teachers and staff, set goals and ensure students meet their learning objectives. Overseeing Nibwakawigamig Education Centre Kinistin Saulteaux Nation day-to-day operations means handling disciplinary matters, managing a budget and hiring teachers and other personnel. Logistics, schedules, teacher and staff evaluations, and public relations fall under the purview of school principals. You will need to present reports, documents and other findings related to the management and success of our school on a regular basis. The Principal shall be a position that serves the function of educational and administrative officer of the school in accordance with the policies and regulations of the Education Committee. As such, the Principal may delegate responsibilities for the operation of various segments of the school but shall be immediately responsible for and accountable to the Director of Operations and ultimately to the Education Committee.
Bachelor of Education (required), Master of Education (preferred);
Saskatchewan Professional A Teaching Certificate (required);
Post-Graduate training in Curriculum/Programming/Instruction and/or Administration is preferred;
Minimum of 3 years experience with administration of a school system, at least 3 years experience as school principal, and at least 5 years teaching experience;
Experience supervising and managing staff as well as developing and managing budgets; Knowledge of Provincial and Kinistin Saulteaux Nations Education;
Familiarity with Indigenous Service Canada funding and reporting requirements;
Recognizes and respects all cultural diversity and has knowledge of Aboriginal history, language, traditions, and culture.
Clear, concise communications both orally and in writing;
Manages self and resources against plans and budgets;
Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures;
Proficient in the use of computer programs, Microsoft, etc.
