Description

The Community-Based Early Years Liaison will be responsible for overseeing and supporting early childhood education and care programs at Flying Dust First Nation. This includes Head Start, Nursery, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 programs, serving children aged 3-6. The role focuses on ensuring culturally relevant, community-driven programming that supports the holistic development of children and their families. The Liaison will also be responsible for long- and short-term planning, outreach, budgeting, work plans, reporting, and coordination with key stakeholders, including Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    Develop, implement, and oversee culturally relevant programming for ECE (ages 3-6).
    Support Head Start, Nursery, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 programs in alignment with community and cultural values.
    Mentor and model best practices for frontline early childhood educators.
Qualifications:
    Post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, or a related field.
    Experience working in early childhood education, particularly within Indigenous communities.
    Knowledge of Indigenous teachings, languages, and traditions, with the ability to integrate cultural elements into programming.
    Strong background in community engagement and outreach.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including educators, families, and community partners.
    Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
    Familiarity with early childhood education frameworks such as the Saskatchewan First Nation Early Learning and Childcare curriculum, Second Steps and others.
    Knowledge of funding sources and proposal writing for early childhood programs.
    First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
