The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill our Accounting Clerk position. Under the direction of the Deputy City Comptroller, the Accounting Clerk performs a variety of clerical, costing, recordkeeping and stores duties that can include but are not limited to:
- Perform manual and computerized administration functions including data entry and word processing
- Prepare and enter costing information into the Citys financial reporting system
- Prepare and enter invoices
- Produce payments, related reports, communications, memos and documents
- Reconcile supplier statements and follow-up on outstanding balances
- Receive and respond to accounts payable and payment enquiries
- Input journal entries
- Accept and check stock received at Stores, reporting any discrepancies
- Perform shipping and receiving duties which may involve use of a forklift
- Assist in physical inventory counts and related activities
- Assist in maintaining the MSDS sheets
Qualified applicants will possess:
- Accounting Diploma or equivalent
- 1-year accounting experience
- Valid Class 5 drivers license with personal vehicle for work purposes
- Demonstrated proficiency in data entry and word processing
- Inventory experience preferred
- Working knowledge of computer software packages, i.e. spreadsheets, word processing and accounting
- Ability to obtain: WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Forklift Certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and move minimum 100 lbs with a trolley
