The Field Technician provides exceptional customer service to SaskPower's low-income customers by enhancing home energy efficiency. This includes replacing inefficient lighting and water products with free LED lighting, water-saving devices, smart power bars, and smart thermostats installed by certified electricians for eligible customers.
To be considered you must be located in Saskatchewan with the willingness to be travelling and staying at hotels on a regular basis (can be up to 50-75% of the time).
Responsibilities
Install energy-efficient products in residential homes, including high-efficiency lighting, water-saving devices (aerators/shower heads), and smart power bars, ensuring compliance with technical and program standards.
Educate residents on their new products, explaining settings and their role in maintaining energy efficiency.
Conduct basic home energy assessments using an app.
Provide energy-saving guidance to participants through demonstrations, personalized recommendations, and home energy assessment reports.
Manage inventory by tracking, recording, and maintaining accurate records of on-hand supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Location and Travel
This role requires extensive travel, including overnight stays, up to 75% of the time, depending on the candidate's location and customer needs.
Required qualifications:
Valid Saskatchewan drivers license and clean driving record.
Reliable vehicle for frequent provincial travel (mileage reimbursed).
Minimum 1 year of experience in residential construction, general labour, or handy work.
Comfortable with physical tasks (lifting up to 40 lbs, bending, kneeling) and working indoors/outdoors in varying conditions.
Strong customer service skills.
Tech-savvy and able to use tools like smart thermostats, power bars, and mobile apps.
Experience with residential energy audits and reporting is a strong asset.
Clear verbal and written communication.
