CONNECTIONS is a program that provides support to children, 5 to 12 years of age, and their
families where children are engaging in activities that would constitute a criminal offense if they were
12 years of age or older . With a pro-active approach, the CONNECTIONS Coordinator will assist the
family to access needed supports; develop and implement a plan that keeps the child at home and
engaged in positive activities. CONNECTIONS plans will vary from family to family and may include
activities for parents; activities for children; activities may be both independent and together.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Coordinator will also attend regular committee meetings with
the CONNECTIONS committee who oversee referrals and assist in services and supports for the
children and families. The CONNECTIONS Coordinator will liaise with local service providers to
maintain an updated directory of services available as well as to support families in the program to
access services. The Coordinator must be flexible with hours of work as evening and weekend hours
may be required. The program supports parents/care givers to understand and to access a variety of
supports for school-age children under the age of 12 years.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are culturally aware and sensitive to maintaining the
dignity of the families receiving supports. Applicants should possess training that would enhance
their ability to problem solve. This would be knowledge of family resources and support services in
the Battlefords as well as training in First Aide, ASIST, MHFA, etc.
