The AIS Technician will assist in outreach, education, and monitoring initiatives designed to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. This position requires outdoor work at boat launches and water access points, where the technician will engage with the public, gather data, conduct Clean, Drain, and Dry demonstrations, and support the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment in its AIS inspections and decontamination.
Travel Required: Travel is required to area lakes (Nickle Lake, Rafferty Reservoir, Boundary Dam, Grant Devine Reservoir, Whitebear and Kenosee)
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Clean, Drain and Dry demonstrations at public boat launches.
Educate boaters, anglers, and the public on AIS prevention practices.
Collect and report inspection data.
Monitor and sample local water bodies for invasive species.
Assist with community outreach events, school visits, and awareness campaigns.
Operate and maintain AIS equipment.
Maintain daily activity logs and contribute to periodic reports.
