The Transfer Station & Water Treatment Operator is a dual-skilled professional responsible for overseeing both the efficient functioning of a waste transfer facility and the safe, compliant operation of a water treatment plant. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable working with control systems, machinery, and chemical processes. The ideal candidate has a strong background in environmental operations and maintenance, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to regulatory compliance and community service.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations at the transfer station, ensuring safe receiving, sorting, and transfer of waste materials
Ensure that all equipmentsuch as compactors, sorting stationsis maintained in safe, working order.
Guide and direct members to appropriate stations.
Record and monitor vehicle loads to prevent overloading, and other relevant operational data to support reporting.
Perform routine inspections of the facility to ensure adherence to environmental and OH&S standards.
Prepare operational reports, maintain incoming and outgoing logbooks, and communicate issues to management.
Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect staff and the public.
Coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs/emergency fixes to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
Maintain maintenance log for Transfer Station and Water Treatment Plant
Operate and monitor computerized control systems to regulate water treatment processesensuring optimal parameters for pH, turbidity, chlorine dosage, and other quality indicators are met.
Routinely work with vendors to test water every 3 days
Adjust chemical feed rates, handle water treatment chemicals safely, and monitor equipment such as pumps, valves, and filtration systems to sustain plant efficiency and water quality.
