Description

Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford is hiring and invites you to join our team!

Mental Health Correctional Officers are professionals who work directly with adult offenders, holding them accountable and supporting positive change in their lives, while maintaining the safe and secure operation of the facility.

As a Mental Health Correctional Officer, you will:

Maintain the safety and security of the facility through monitoring, supervising, and interacting with offenders;
Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team;
Apply knowledge of mental health and addictions assessments, treatments and interventions to appropriately manage complex behaviours, prevent escalation;
Conduct routine patrols and supervise movement within the facility;
Perform security checks of the center and grounds;
Accurately interpret and apply legislation, policy, and procedures; and
Prevent, respond to, and resolve incidents, using the safest and most reasonable intervention strategies.

As our successful candidate, you will have:

Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
Knowledge of human behaviour;
A valid Saskatchewan-issued Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent;
A valid First Aid and CPR/AED certificate with no less than 12 months remaining before expiration
Critical thinking skills;
An inclusive, non-judgmental and culturally responsiveapproach;
The ability to be adaptable and resilient in times of change, uncertainty and stress; and
Proficiency with various computer systems, software, and programs.

The COPAT requirement for employment has been temporarily replaced by a comprehensive medical evaluation completed by a licensed medical practitioner.

Should you receive a successful offer of employment, you will be enrolled in a paid, full-time 11-week Induction Training Program (ITP). The next ITP will start on September 22, 2025.
