Description

Core Function:

This position will assist current and future Food Centre clients at our Pilot Plant location (on University of Saskatchewan campus) with their food production projects with a focus on meat production as well as other food products. As part of our Food Centre staff, you will responsible for assisting clients in their production and equipment operation as well as shipping/receiving, inventory control, documentation,  QA/QC duties, and other duties as required. This position may lead into a leadership role for the right candidate.

Requirements:
- Experience in a federally inspected meat facility would be an asset
- Sausage making/curing/smokehouse operation would be a requirement
- Working knowledge within HACCP systems
- Highly attentive to food quality and detail
- Good math and reading skills
- Ability to work with heavy equipment
- Work in varied temperature environments
- Must have good attendance and punctuality
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Ability to remain calm and positive
- Ability to coach and communicate with staff and clients in a positive manner
- Power Worker/Forklift operation would be a requirement

Responsibilities:
- Assist Food Centre clients with varied food products
- Shipping and Receiving
- Able to communicate with CFIA on plant related issues
- Read and accurately follow written procedures and formulas as outlined
- Maintain production records, including weights, volumes and lot codes
- Inspect all equipment before and during use
- Work as part of a team to improve output yield and quality
- Maintain a clean and organized Plant
- Ability to work with all types of food products
- Assist with other duties as needed
