The Touchwood Child & Family Services Inc, is seeking two individuals for Family Advocate Worker, which will provide advocacy for First Nation children under the Touchwood Child & Family Services Nations, who are in care throughout Canada. You will research/search for children who have been adopted off reserve. The main function is bringing our children home to allow rightful connections to their home Nations & family. The worker will receive referrals regarding children gather the knowledge and work at connecting these children to their people and pass on the information to the proper agency departments. Registering Children as First Nation members will be advocated for First Nations of Touchwood Child and Family Services Inc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW or BISW) OR Four (4) year University undergraduate degree in a related discipline and eighteen (18) months experience in a human services field OR Certificate in Social Work with 12 months of direct child protection experience Experience working in the human services field.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of First Nations culture and language.
Ability to utilize computer software and hardware programs.
Ability to make decisions using sound judgment in difficult or ambiguous situations.
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills ability to maintain accurate and current information and documentation relating to case files.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must provide a current criminal record check and submit to Abuse Registry screening.
Must provide a drivers abstract and have access to a reliable vehicle.
Able to work some evenings and weekends and participate in the On-Call Rotation
