Job Description: A Clinical Doctoral Scientist (Clinical Biochemist) is an individual who has undergone specialized training in a broad spectrum of health-related scientific domains that may include basic science, clinical science, quality improvement, critical appraisal, health professional education, and health system development and delivery. The Clinical Doctoral Scientists (Clinical Biochemists) represent a significant and important component of clinicians within the Provincial Program of Laboratory Medicine and are key leaders in Saskatchewan health care, collaborating with system leaders to achieve our provinces healthcare goals. Reporting to a Dyad Leadership team within Laboratory Medicine, the Scientist is responsible for providing consultation and liaison with physicians and other health care practitioners in the ordering and interpretation of specialty laboratory testing to ensure optimal patient care. The Scientist is a critical member of a team of laboratory clinicians in the Provincial Program of Laboratory Medicine, which combines academic, research and patient care mandates within the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, as it implements new and innovative was to integrate laboratory diagnostic practice in the province.
