The successful applicant will oversee the SaskSPCA Family Ties Program. The goal of this program is to help keep families and companion animals together during times of crisis. The program focuses on both macro and micro level programs and has evolved, and will evolve, as needed based on the emerging family crisis.
Major areas of responsibility for the Family Ties Coordinator include but are not limited to the following: Violence Link programs and resources; Animal Welfare Network; and Pet Food Bank.
Qualifications and competencies:
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- Maintain confidentiality
- Work well individually and in teams
- Possess a university degree or diploma in a relevant field such as veterinary technology, animal sciences, community development, or social work
- Hold a valid drivers licence
- Be willing to travel and have access to a reliable vehicle
- Can lift heavy items (under 20 kg) periodically
- Understand the complexities of family violence, community socioeconomic status, and social determinants of health
- Experience working with animal shelters, rescues, or veterinary clinics is desirable
- Knowledge of animal husbandry is desirable
