Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA) is responsible for cancer control and provides provincial population-based screening and prevention programs. The Medical Advisor will serve as an independent contractor to provide advice on strategic, clinical, and quality aspects of the Screening Program for Lung Cancer.
The Medical Advisor will provide innovative prevention and screening strategies built on key clinical and quality evidence-based practice frameworks. The Medical Advisor will facilitate implementation of inter-jurisdictional provincial standards/protocols/guidelines, and identify best practices for prevention and screening programs. The Medical Advisor will provide advice on system issues, quality assurance activities, and the evaluation of trends in cancer prevention and quality screening services as well as educational and training material for the public, clinicians, and stakeholders. In addition, the Advisor will provide guidance to address clinical and population health concerns and inquiries.
The Medical Advisor will perform the services on an as needed basis, including scheduled activity during normal Agency business hours. An annual flexible time commitment of approximately 25 days per year is required. After a one-year term, a three-year commitment to the role with an option for renewal may be considered.
Job Qualifications
* A medical degree and member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, with specialty credentials/subspecialty training necessary to provide the physician specific services for the Screening Program for Lung Cancer.
* Licensed and practicing in Saskatchewan.
* Experience in health promotion (involving cancer prevention and screening an asset).
* Demonstrated leader and ability to foster a collaborative approach to decision- making and facilitate and mediate discussions in complex situations.
