Description

Overview:
As part of the Cultural Services Department, the City of Humboldt is currently seeking a Permanent, Full Time Cultural Programmer. This position is based at the Museum and Gallery, but encompasses a wide variety of community programs, exhibits and events at the Original Humboldt site, Water Tower, and in municipal Public Art.

Under the direction of the Director of Cultural Services, and reporting to the Museum Supervisor, the Cultural Programmer shall fulfill all duties of the position including creating arts and heritage public programs, education programs, special events, and online community engagement.  Tasks include research, program development, collections management, exhibit installations, marketing and reception duties. The employee will ensure the daily tasks are completed in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

Qualifications:
Graduation from a recognized Museum Studies program and/or equivalent experience in a museum or gallery.
Experience in the development and provision of education and public programs.
Team player with excellent communication and customer service skills.  
Ability to provide record keeping, administration and filing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Computer Software including but not limited to; collections software, registration programs, word processing, and spreadsheets.

Compensation & Hours of Work:
This is an in-scope (union) position with a starting wage of $23.71/hour (2025 rate).

General work schedule  Tuesday to Saturday 8:45 am  5:15 pm with a one-hour lunch break. Occasional evening shifts will be required.
A Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) will be required as a condition of employment.
