Description

The Carter House Family Treatment Centre is dedicated to providing comprehensive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based care to families affected by addiction, who may or may not be involved with the child welfare system.
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Addictions Counsellor specializing in supporting families impacted by substance use disorder.  This role involves providing therapy and education to address addiction in a holistic, family centered approach. The successful candidate will focus on strengthening family dynamics, building healthy communication, and creating support systems that contribute to long -term recovery. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of addiction recovery, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct client assessments
Develop and regularly update individualized treatment plans
Facilitate individual and couple psychoeducation sessions focused on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, family dynamics, and coping strategies
Work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure a holistic and integrated treatment approach
Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, ensuring safety and emotional stability
Maintain detailed and accurate records, adhering to confidentiality policies
Develop aftercare and relapse prevention strategies
Required Qualifications:
Diploma or certificate in Addiction or social work, human services related field, and or combination of education and work-related experience.
Experience working in a family treatment center or residential treatment setting.
Knowledge of parenting and child welfare concerns, especially in the context of addiction recovery
Hours of Work: Evenings and Weekends
