Description

Mosquito Grizzly Bear's Head Lean Man First Nation is in collaboration with Kanaweyimik Child & Family Services Inc. We are seeking a caring and experienced School-Based Social Worker for the 2025-2026 academic year. This newly developed position supports a shared vision of student safety, success, and wellness by embedding culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices directly into the daily life of Mosquito School. The Social Worker will offer individualized and group-based supports for students, provide crisis response, collaborate with school and child welfare teams, and help develop a stronger bridge between educational and family services.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Provide responsive services to support students with behavioral, emotional, social, and psychological needs.
Deliver interventions within a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework:
-Tier 1: Whole-school mental health promotion and capacity building. --Tier 2: Targeted small group sessions and workshops.
-Tier 3: Intensive, individualized student support.
Respond to emergent needs including counselling, crisis intervention, and advocacy.
Work with families, teachers, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers to align interventions with MGBHLMFN values and community priorities.
Make referrals to external agencies where appropriate and follow through with inter-agency case management.
Support the implementation of prevention programs (e.g., healthy relationships, self-regulation, coping strategies).
Promote equitable access to services and advocate for systemic change to benefit vulnerable students and families.
Ensure appropriate documentation and confidentiality of student files.
Collaborate with Kanaweyimik and MGBHLM Education team to monitor, evaluate, and report on service impacts.
