CLSI is now accepting applications for an Associate Scientist or Scientist position within our Bio/Life Sciences department on the Biomedical Imaging and Therapy Facility (BMIT) beamlines. Biomedical imaging and Therapy facility is a set of two beamlines (05ID-2 and 05B1-1) designed to support a wide variety of programs in the life sciences by providing outstanding hard X-ray imaging and microtomography for pre-clinical and biomedical studies. Responsibilities:
- Provides user support to general users, beamteam members, fee-for-service clients, and CLS staff. Assists with the following functions: beamline & endstation setup, assists with sample preparation and trains users on how to operate beamline, user support beyond normal working hours in accordance with established CLS procedures, and measurements & data analysis.
- Supervise and support users to ensure that they are able to perform their scientific experiments in an effective manner.
- Analyses and solves beamline or technical problems and develops recommendations to solve difficult, complex or unusual problems.
- Will aid the Beamline Responsible in beamline upgrade/maintenance projects.
- Prepares beamline documentation and operational manuals.
- Working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is a requirement of the position.
Qualifications:
- For the Associate Scientist level, a relevant Masters degree is required. For the Scientist level, a relevant Masters degree or Ph.D. in the physical sciences or engineering is required.
- A minimum of two years of directly related experience with a Masters degree, or a minimum of one year of related experience with a Ph.D. degree.
- Experience in hard X-ray Imaging and tomography are required.
