Description

Group Home Managers hold responsibility for the day-to-day operations of assigned work area. Group Home Managers monitor and coach employees to ensure high-quality of support and care are provided to clients. Group Home Managers are to have a thorough understanding of all policies and practices and ensure a clean and safe environment for staff and clients. Group Home managers are required to work as part of a team and to ensure unbiased leadership. Must have a valid class 5 drivers license and Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search. Disability Support Worker certificate or related post-secondary education and/or equivalent training and experience may be considered. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with people experiencing disability and 1 year of supervisory experience and/or training
Possesses an understanding of lifts and repositioning techniques, specialized care equipment, and policies and procedures related to the administration of medication
Knowledge of crisis prevention and intervention techniques
Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with individuals and groups
Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships
Consistently applies observation and problem-solving skills, and has the ability to apply specific solutions to specific situations, clients and/or staff
Professional application of confidentiality and builds trust with clients, staff and team-members
Supervisory and leadership skills
Effective in assessing performance and providing feedback
Ability to perform scheduled routines and set priorities with minimal supervision
Ability to coach and motivate clients based on established programs
Completes documentation and tracking as required
Demonstrates sound judgement and ability to organize and prioritize multiple and competing tasks
May demonstrate job specific skills when coaching clients and staff.
Must be available evenings and weekends.
