Description

Avena is seeking an Oat Cleaning Plant Operator (Night Shift) is responsible for inspecting incoming grain and ensuring the grain meets Avenas quality specs.  Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining records, communicating results, making process adjustments and facilitating transfers of finished products to Avena oat mills.  This position works in collaboration with the Cleaning Plant Coordinator.  However, this position is expected to also work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
Collect & organize incoming truck delivery samples.
Conduct tests on incoming oats & interpret results against company specifications.
Make process adjustments to ensure cleaned oats meet specs.
Record & communicate test results to Cleaning Plant Coordinator.
Prepare information for grain settlements
Maintain a clean working environment that complies with GMPs/Food Safety Certification specifics
Maintain equipment within the facility. General cleanup inside/outside the process area.
Assist with loading outbound shipments of grain/byproducts.
Perform regular samples on product in process, send samples for testing and document data.
Assist the Cleaning Plant Coordinator in completing corrective actions.
Ensure daily production and FSQMS records are complete and accurate. Follow up on discrepancies, identify root causes, and retrieve missing info as needed. File verified records and enter data as required.
Communication/coordination with the oat mill.
Other duties as required.

Skills:
Knowledge of HACCP principles, food safety, quality standards is preferred.
Ability to  work independently and in as team
Excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving, communication skills.
Flexible schedule; able to meet schedules, work overtime as required

Qualifications:
Experience in grain handling or processing
