Performs minor plumbing and electrical repairs within code requirements.
Performs minor carpentry repairs, painting, and dry walling.
Performs minor repairs and maintains mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, fans, motors, boiler and associated equipment, kitchen/laundry/housekeeping equipment).
Performs preventative maintenance and monitors all gauges, valves and thermostats in boiler room and facility.
Checks, cleans, services, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on boiler, air-conditioning units, humidifiers, air unit filters, thermostats, vents air compressor, pumps and motors.
Uses equipment such as tools for plumbing, electrical, carpentry and yard work.
Repairs and maintains client equipment (e.g., mobility devices, exam beds and wheelchairs).
Reports maintenance requirements beyond the scope of the employee to the Director and assist in arranging for services.
Qualifications
Grade 10
Fireman's Certificate- to be obtained prior to the end of probationary/trial period.
Refrigeration or Pool Operator Certificate- where required by the job
Must be physically capable to perform tasks requiring heavy lifting- 40 pounds or more.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic reading, writing, communication and computer skills.
Intermediate knowledge of tools and equipment.
Ability to perform routine mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
Demonstrated multi-tasking and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment.
