Description

The Ministry of Highways, Central Operations is seeking an Equipment Operator for the La Ronge Section. The position will be an entry level position whose duties include flagging and light equipment operation. This position is a Labour Service/Seasonal position and is subject to layoff in the fall and recall in the spring.

You must be able and willing to work in physically demanding conditions and perform physical labour, heavy lifting, and climbing. You will keep records and logs of hours of operation, repairs, and amounts of material applied to the highways. You will work under extreme and changing climate conditions and must be willing to travel and work flexible hours. As a member of a team who ensures public safety, you will have the opportunity to work with new and advanced technologies and equipment.

You will be approachable and flexible in dealing with members of the public and their work unit; self-motivated to complete tasks; adaptable to changing work situations; and must work well in an environment that recognizes, supports, respects, and welcomes diversity of employees and clients. You must also have a graduated Class 5 License.

You will have knowledge of:

- Basic knowledge of servicing equipment such as brooms, tractors, rollers and light vehicles;
- Workplace safety and traffic control procedures are an asset; and
- Entry level knowledge of occupational health, workplace hazardous materials and dangerous good policies and practices.
