Course Development Manager Responsibilities
The Course Development Manager at Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre (Sask DLC) provides leadership to the Instructional Design Consultant team while also contributing directly to the development of online courses. This hybrid role ensures that all online learning content is high-quality, aligned with curriculum expectations, and designed using evidence-informed instructional design practices. The supervisor develops and implements the course development work plan and develops in collaboration with the Program Development Manager the course development and renewal plan based on program review data. The Course Development Manager ensures adherence to the centralized course development administrative procedure, and supports a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the instructional design and development team.
Primary Responsibilities
* Instructional Design (Consultant Responsibilities)
* Lead the creation of Moodle-based instructional content using subject matter expert (SME) source materials.
* Collaborate with teams to develop new courses and improve existing ones.
* Provide expert instructional design guidance to course developers and support instructional strategies that enhance learner engagement and accessibility.
* Manage course development timelines and contribute as a project team member (SMEs, developers, communications, technical support, etc.).
* Ensure alignment with Sask DLC instructional design standards and learning outcomes.
* Explore and integrate emerging educational technologies and instructional strategies.
* Work collaboratively with all Sask DLC Department to meet development deadlines.
* Actively engage in professional learning relevant to instructional design.
* Engage with outside agencies, industry, and the student programming team to support authentic and innovative learning opportunities.
