Job Description: The Mental Health Capacity Building Coordinator/Wellness Promoter is responsible and accountable to the Director of Education and works closely with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Provincial Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) representative. The position is responsible for providing leadership, direction, programming, data collection and structure to support the overall objectives of the MHCB program. These objectives are met by developing and delivering evidence-based programming reaching children, youth, initiatives to build capacity in the school community.
Duties Include:
1. Develop and implement a service plan that aligns with MHCB objectives.
2. Engage key partners and stakeholders in community collaborative networks to make connections to mental health and addictions services and community resources.
3. Develop, plan, promote and deliver universally accessible mental health promotion programming for school-wide and large and small groups in schools and community settings.
4. Work with students, division staff, parents/guardians and community members (who work closely with children and youth) to increase their knowledge, skills, competence and confidence related to decreasing any stigma towards mental illness and creating a school culture that fosters a sense of belonging and safety.
5. Monitor and assess the quality and effectiveness of programming, administer surveys and other assessment instruments and refine actions as part of a continuous improvement approach.
6. Connect and collaborate with other MHCB School Coordinators in the province to identify and overcome challenges and celebrate successes.
7. Work under the direction of the High School Principal and the Director of Education.
