The Ministry of Environment, Fish and Wildlife Branch is looking for flexible team players who are highly motivated and results-oriented. This posting will be used to staff up to 8 (eight) positions; one to two positions in Saskatoon and five to six positions in Regina.
The key role of this position is to support the delivery of the chronic wasting disease surveillance program. Seasonal technicians work closely with the wildlife health specialist and fish and wildlife health biologist to carry out a variety of responsibilities including drop-off kiosk deployment; delivery of samples for chronic wasting disease testing from field offices to the diagnostic lab; collection and processing of tissue samples in the laboratory; collection of samples from outfitters, taxidermists, and processors; and data management and reporting.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through a diploma in a natural resource management field. The successful candidates should also have excellent organizational skills. A valid Class 5 driver's license is a condition of employment, and the ability to drive a truck and trailer is an asset. Duties will include the collection of tissue samples from hunter-harvested deer and elk heads, as well as data entry and management.
The position is seasonal and will be staffed from September to January each year.
