Description

The Ministry of Finance is responsible for oversight of government revenue, expenses, assets and liabilities. Finance and Operation Services, within the Corporate Services Division, provides financial, accounting and administrative services for the Ministry and several other associated entities.

Finance and Operation Services is seeking an innovative and highly motivated team player with superior financial, analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills for the position of Senior Financial Analyst with supervisory responsibilities.

This position is responsible for:

- Overseeing the Ministrys accounting function, which includes ensuring that Ministry programs operate in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, the Financial Administration Manual and other authorities, as well as providing professional advice to Ministry management and staff;
- Leading the Ministrys revenue, expense and FTE forecasting processes, including the review and analysis of forecasts prepared by others;
- Servicing the public debt, including interest payments, derivative agreements, debt redemption and sinking fund payments
- Support the development of the pension and benefit budget for the Government of Saskatchewan and monthly forecasting of these plans; and
- Preparing quarterly and year-end financial information in accordance with accounting principles prescribed by the Public Sector Accounting Handbook of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.

Typically, knowledge for this position is gained through the successful completion of an undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a major in accounting. Completion of, or current enrollment in, the CPA program and related relevant experience would be considered an asset.
