The Ministry of Social Services is looking for individuals to join our team as Child Protection Workers.
We offer a drive-in and drive-out position in Buffalo Narrows over a four-week average period. You will work 11-hour days (Monday through Saturday) with scheduled days off. Travel time from your home location to Buffalo Narrows at the beginning and end of the rotation may be compensated, and staff housing may be provided.
In this position, you will:
-Be responsible for investigating allegations of neglect, physical or sexual abuse, assessing family functioning determining risk factors to the children's safety, implementing intervention plans and providing support services to the family, as required;
-When necessary, initiate Family Court proceedings and work through this process with the family;
-In cases where the children are admitted to the care of the Ministry, manage their needs including placement in foster and alternate resources, assessment and treatment planning to ensure that individual health, social psychological and educational needs are met in preparation to return home.
To qualify for this position, you will possess a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work degree from an accredited university, as approved by the SASW/CASW or CASWE. The successful candidates will be required to travel, work flexible hours in the evening and on weekends, and transport children (and parents) in service delivery.
