Job Summary:
Working as part of the Recycling team, the Recycling Support Staff assists in reducing the volume of contaminated materials in the flow of recyclables by identifying contaminants in collection bins and engaging in efforts to provide education. He/she performs general maintenance and repair to collection bins and assists with confidential shredding tasks. The role of Recycling Support Staff is vital in achieving agency goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Safely operate industrial vehicles in completing assigned tasks.
2. Check recycling bins for contamination in advance of collection schedule (see attached procedure Appendix A).
3. Gather information about recycling bin contents and provide that information to the MURR CSR.
4. Apply informational/educational decals to recycling bins as assigned.
5. Perform general maintenance for bins where required.
6. Identify and report serious/major damage to bins.
7. Perform confidential shredding tasks.
8. Work in accordance with Cosmo Shreds NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) policies and procedures for handling confidential material.
9. Complete routine maintenance checks on equipment as required; report concerns.
10. Maintain a clean and safe work environment; compliance with and participation in all safe work procedures and cleaning/disinfecting tasks.
11. Prepare documentation and reports as required by Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd.
12. Participate as an active team member (communication, coverage during staff shortages etc.).
13. Develop effective working relationships with all staff and program participants to ensure a respectful and positive work environment is achieved.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
Valid Saskatchewan Drivers License; must maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd.
Ability to obtain NAID certification. Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance.
