Description

Term: 8 weeks (ends August 29)
Hours: Monday to Friday, varying shifts (11am-6pm or 2pm-9pm)
Age requirement: Must be between 15-30 (can turn 31 while employed)

Job Duties include but not limited to:
-Prepare and implement age-appropriate activities
-Provide input to the planning of age-appropriate activities
-Maintain a positive attitude, friendly and welcoming when in the presence of children and youth
-Provide supervision of children and youth
-Participate and engage with children and youth at all times (i.e. not being on your phone)
-Continuously scan and assess the environment for safety hazards, addressing and reporting when necessary
-Support the maintenance of accurate and current file records on all youth
-Maintain awareness of community resources and gaps, as well as the socio-economic and geographical makeup of the community
-Promote behavioral change and personal growth of children and youth who are facing difficulties due to social, emotional, physical, or cognitive delays
-Support evaluation and reporting processes for the program as requested
-Exemplify the characteristics of a mentor and positive role model
-Provide life skills training as per goals set out by the youth and other stakeholders
-Support youth to achieve their established goals using a strengths-based approach
-Work within the youths community to utilize local resources and programs  
-Communicate with parents when any changes occur in activities or plans
-Maintain open communication and trusting relationships with the youth and their families

Experience and Qualifications:
-Early childhood education, Youth Care Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent training and experience
-Experience working with inner-city children and youth
-Knowledge and understanding of the North Central Community
