The Role
In this role you will be reporting to the shaft Supervisor as well as be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the shafts, hoists and conveyances to meet site targets and regulatory requirements in a safe and efficient manner.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
-Conducting and providing oversight of all shaft slinging, shaft inspection and shaft maintenance activities
-Operating, inspecting and maintaining the main cage and skip conveyance
-Preparing equipment and materials to be moved to/from the underground using slings and rigging
-Aid the shaft Supervisor in ensuring the daily scheduled movement of materials and people are monitored and met
-Operating equipment such as telehandler and skid steer
-Ability to achieve hoist operator/supervisor certificate
-Fulfil all duties as detailed in the mines regulations Mine Shaft 1 operator training requirements
-Plan and execute rope changes, rope cuts and other shaft maintenance
-Guarantee all required logbooks and documentations are complete and up to date
Required:
-Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent
-Minimum 5 years of applicable mine shaft experience in a lead role
-Slinging and rigging experience in a lead role
-Previous lead hand experience
-Must successfully pass the crane and rigging course
-Rotating day/night shift schedule
-Able to work at heights using fall arrest
-Excellent communication and computer skills
-Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
-Previous mine shaft experience in a lead role
-40hr Crane and Rigging Certification
-PME certification ie: telehandler and skidsteer
