Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications accurately and efficiently
Process prescription orders from customers and healthcare providers
Measure, count, package, and label medications
Maintain and monitor inventory; place orders and remove expired stock
Provide excellent customer service and handle inquiries professionally
Operate the cash register and handle transactions
Maintain and update patient records and assist with insurance claims
Support in medication compounding, as required
Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and maintain confidentiality
Use and maintain pharmacy technology and equipment
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of experience as a pharmacy assistant or in a similar healthcare support role
Knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication names (generic & brand), and dosage forms
Familiarity with provincial and federal pharmacy regulations and privacy laws (e.g., PHIPA, PIPEDA)
Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy, especially when measuring and packaging medications
Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with pharmacy software and computer systems
Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
Good organizational and time management skills to handle a fast-paced work environment
Physically capable of standing for extended periods and handling light lifting
Valid Class 5 Drivers License for occasional deliveries or pharmacy errands
Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Assistant or Technician training program (preferred)
Current criminal record check and immunization records may be required upon hire
