The Role
The chief mining engineer serves as a senior technical leader and trusted expert in mine engineering at Cameco. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee a team of highly skilled professionals, providing expert guidance to ensure the safe, environmentally responsible, and economically efficient operation of our mining assets.
In this role, you will:
-Deliver technical assessments and support operational excellence across all mine engineering disciplines.
-Drive innovation in areas such as mine planning, ventilation, ground control, and other critical functions in geo-technically complex environments.
-Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to advance innovation initiatives and support long-term growth.
-Assess new business opportunities aligned with Camecos strategic objectives.
-Provide engineering design oversight and act as a trusted advisor to both site-level and corporate teams.
-Contribute to capital project development through leadership in front-end engineering studies and technical report preparation.
-Ensure all engineering work aligns with regulatory standards and corporate goals.
-You may be required to participate in Mergers & Acquisitions due-diligence activities.
Required:
-Bachelors degree in mining or geological engineering
-10 or more years of progressive experience in hard rock and/or underground mine engineering
-Eligibility for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
-Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation
-Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams and complex projects
-Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
