Description

Driver Trainer

SOUTHLAND Transportation is currently seeking a Driver Trainer for our Humboldt location. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess superior leadership skills in the training and development of our professional drivers. A high attention to detail, exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills, and a focus on the continuous improvement of safe driving skills and customer service are key to success in this role.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

-Training new drivers in the classroom and on road
-Getting new drivers ready for licensing
-Incident investigations, file management, and reporting
-WCB administration
-Assist with the development of the companys safety culture and program
-Monitor operations to ensure staff comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, and government regulations
-Plan and present on various topics at staff safety meetings
-Familiarize prospective employees with SOUTHLAND policies
-CRC (Collision Review Committee) road reviews and retraining
-Maintain precise and up-to-date paperwork and timekeeping
-Assist as needed based on the needs of the company

Knowledge & Skills Required

-Class 5 license with S endorsement (or willing to obtain)
-Excellent driving skills and habits
-Clear drivers abstract
-Previous experience in a school bus operation
-Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
-Proficient in Microsoft Office
-Public speaking and presentation skills
-Occupational Health and Safety Certificate preferred
-Post-secondary education and/or training in leadership or management considered an asset
-Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) busing related safety legislation

Working Conditions

The office is locatedin Humbldt. Typical working hours are from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Full-time Trainers may be required to cover a run if needed.
