Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Heavy Equipment Operator/Assistant will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment as well as assist in overseeing daily operations, ensuring work is completed safety, on time and according to job specifications.
Highschool diploma or GED
Minimum 7 years experience in operating heavy equipment, which includes graders, wheel loaders, dozers, packers, haul trucks and excavators in a municipal environment. Completion of relevant training and certifications for operating heavy equipment.
Proven experience in previous supervisory or leadership role.
Valid Class 5 license from the Province of Saskatchewan as well as a clean drivers abstract.
Experience in maintaining public works/recreation, utility and municipal infrastructure and facilities on a daily basis would be preferred.
OSHA certification or willingness to obtain. Positive, proactive attitude toward safety, utilizing proper Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE").
Must adhere to all safety protocols and proper procedures.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow instructions.
