Qualifications:
The successful candidate will provide support to Globes production departments, including assisting in the carpentry shop, lighting department, sound department, props department and wardrobe department; they should be able to demonstrate basic skills in more than one of these departments. The successful candidate will be skilled, knowledgeable, flexible, keen to learn, and a team player.
The successful candidate should:
Have a base knowledge of the theatrical techniques employed in the carpentry shop, props shop, lighting department, and/or sound department.
Have a base computer knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.
Be able to work under the department heads and technical director to achieve design goals
Have a base knowledge of theatrical practices and the process of bringing a production to the stage.
Be able to assist with set installs, technical installs, and shopping as directed by the Technical Director.
Be able to effectively communicate and correspond with department heads, designers, directors, and stage managers.
Have strong time management skills and be able to work towards a deadline.
Have the ability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and Stat holidays.
Attend all staff and production meetings and be a member of the Health & Safety Committee if required.
Adhere to all aspects of the Collective Agreement between Globe Theatre and I.A.T.S.E. Local 295.
Ability to safely lift and transport items or materials up to 22 kgs.
Possess a Class 5 Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract.
This is a full-time, seasonal position, generally employed from early fall through June. For the 2025-2026 season, the Production Assistant dates will be as early as August 18, 2025 through Saturday, June 27, 2026. Start date is negotiable for the right candidate.
