Description

The Roadways Supervisor is responsible for the administration of the Roadways division for the City of Moose Jaw. This position will perform the following duties:

- Plan, co-ordinate, direct and supervise the activities of the Roadways crews
- Co-ordinate staffing functions including recruitment, orientation, training, evaluation and corrective discipline
- Recommend changes and assist in the development of work policies
- Assist in the preparation of cost and budget estimates
- Ensure staff are advised on the use of safe and proper working procedures and practices, proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment and ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Investigate and Rectify complaints from the public
- Ensure staff are available to respond to after hours and emergency call outs
- Provide recommendations on personnel, equipment and procedures
- Monitor work assigned to Contractors
- Participate in design reviews on Capital projects
- Available to respond to City infrastructure emergencies
- Acting capacity for the Manager of Transportation and Procurement

Qualified applicants will possess:
- Post-secondary program in the technical/engineering field; must be able to be registered with SASTT and hold a minimum designation of A.Sc.T
- Class 3A Drivers License
- Five years experience directly related to general public works operations
- Ability to coach, lead, organize and direct activities of employees
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to utilize office software and learn specialized computer software
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Problem solving, project management, cost control and initiative
