Description

Avena Foods is actively seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. This position will be allocated as needed between our plants in Rowatt & Regina. This role prepares samples & conducts lab tests on raw materials & finished products to ensure compliance of oats & finished products with Avenas standards for food safety & quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine QA duties as per standards Operating Procedures.
Prepare samples for testing.
Conduct physical, chemical, microbiological & allergen testing of raw materials & finished products while maintaining a gluten free laboratory.
Collect & perform shelf-life testing on retention samples.
Perform pre-operational inspections & environmental monitoring of all relevant parts of equipment & areas of the facility.
Implement/ monitor HACCP & related systems
Perform operational document verification & follow up on quality & safety incidents.
Maintain accurate records and participate in internal/external audits when required.
Report non-compliances & take corrective actions to assure compliance to quality & food safety requirements.
Make timely risk-based decisions to ensure products meet the quality, food safety requirements & customers specifications.
Assess, document & trend products & isolate by following the Hold & Release Program.
Conduct incoming grain delivery inspections when required.
Education Requirements
Minimum Diploma or its equivalent in Food Science, or related Field.
Skills
Knowledge of HACCP principles & prevalent food safety & quality standards is preferred.
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Ability to multi-task and work independently & in team
Excellent interpersonal skills
Good problem-solving, organizational, communication skills.
Willing to be flexible on schedule; ability to meet deadlines including overtime as required
Location: Regina, SK or Rowatt, SK as per company requirements
