Description

Overview:
As part of the Community and Leisure Services Department, the City of Humboldt is currently seeking to fill up to one (1) permanent, full-time Facility Maintenance Worker positions.
Under the direction of the Arena Supervisor or the Director of Community and Leisure Services, the primary responsibilities are located within the arena and event related areas. This position is responsible for all aspects of ice maintenance, including the operation of the ice resurface, ice making and ice repair. The position also is highly janitorial in nature within the arena including cleaning dressing rooms, seating areas, washrooms, etc. The position will also assist with a broad range of events set-up and take-down, as well as parks operations like grass cutting, tree maintenance and general park duties. The position will also assist other departments as needed.

Qualifications:
Grade 12 or GED.
Certificate or Diploma in Recreation Facility Maintenance is preferred.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
Preference to applicants with Arena and/or Refrigeration Certificate, or experience operating an ice resurface and event related experience. Experience with Pesticide application, Turf Maintenance and Irrigation, Horticulture, Tree Care, or any related tasks considered a major asset.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

Compensation:
This is an in-scope position under CUPE Local 2359. Starting rate of pay is $26.65 per hour (2025 rate).
Employees are eligible for the employer matched defined pension plan, annual paid vacation days, and a comprehensive health and wellness plan.
This position includes a combination of early morning, evening, and weekend shifts within a four-week rotating schedule. Staff currently work 10-hour shifts and every second weekend.
